February 2008 Trail Conditions Archive

February 28, 2008 - Trail / Site Update

The trails are holding there own.  I am seeing some areas that are down to ice.  Please be careful!  The forecasted snow should fix the low spots.  Groomers will be running all weekend, so watch out for them.  This site writer will be gone until Sunday Night.  Please do not be alarmed if you do not see an update before Sunday!

February 27, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Groomer Operators are continuing to improve the trails by bringing snow off the trail onto the corners.  If we can get them built up over the ice, we will again raise the trail conditions to EXCELLENT.  For now, please slow down and be extra careful in the corners.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 24, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Trail conditions have been downgraded to GOOD.  Corners are wearing thin and we are now down to ice.  Next weeks forecasted snow storms should bring needed snow to our trail.  Our corners have been cut wide for your safety.  Banking them up Indy style, reduces the drivable width of the trail and isn't safe.  Plus, blowing all that snow over the corner takes snow off our trail!  Please slow down in the corners to prevent banking.

We went on a ride yesterday and the trails were beautiful, as was the day.  We rode from Lake City to Houghton Lake to Grayling to The Blue Bear Staging Area back to Lake City.  The ride home had some bumps, but that is to be expected for the million snowmobiles we seen on the trail.  All in all, it was a GREAT day.

If you ride the Miss-Kal and run into rough trails, we are sorry.  We are down to one tractor, until the Ford gets fixed.  We are doing our best and now even have Groomer Operators going out at 1:00AM to take over where the first Operator left off.  We will continue to do our best through this minor set back.  Thank You for your patience.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 22, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

The Missaukee Trail Blazers are running groomers every night this weekend, temperature permitting.  Please watch out for our groomers, and make sure you give them the room they need to get past you.

We rode the trails today, and they were excellent.  From Rhoby Road all the way to M-72.  What a Ride,  Very Smoooth,  Wide corners, our Groomer Operators are doing an EXCELLENT Job.  Tonights Operator reported EXCELLENT trail conditions, and several snowmobilers stopped him and told him what a great job we were doing.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 19, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Groomers are running again with the new snow we have had over the past 24 hours.  The Groomer Operators are reporting excellent trail conditions, however the base is still very icy and slick.  Please use extra caution when riding.  Also, East of Old-66, headed toward 7 Mile Road, the Groomer Operator reported wood cutters in on the trail.  They have left terrible ruts in the base which froze up after the rains.  He has tried to cut them out, but can not remove them completely.  Please use extra caution in this area.  As always, please watch out for the groomers on the trail.  Ride Safe and Think SNOW! - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 18, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

We had a bad warm up and rain on Sunday.  The trail looked like a giant snow cone.  Freezing weather on Monday has made the trail like ICE!  We are currently receiving some snow, so please be careful out there.  We will not be grooming until we get enough snow, so keep shaking those snow sticks!  Hopefully Groomer 1 will be back from repair on Friday!  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 15, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

We received 4" - 8" of fresh system snow last night.  Last nights Groomer Operator reported EXCELLENT trail conditions.  Diane rode with Nate up to the "T" yesterday afternoon and they both said the trails were GREAT!  We are receiving Kudos from everyone.  Thank You Groomer Operators for keeping our trails smoooooth!!!  - Ride Safe - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 14, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Groomer 1 is still in the shop for repairs.  Groomer 2 ran two shifts and groomed the complete Trail System.  The Operators reported EXCELLENT conditions with plenty of snow on the trail.  Grooming will continue through the weekend.  4" - 8" of fresh snow is expected by Friday!  Riding conditions will be better than ever for the weekend.  Don't forget about the Valentine Sweet Heart Ride on Saturday!  Check the Special Events Page for more information.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail.  -  Ron Loveland Jr.

February 12, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Groomer 2 ran last night, grooming the Moorestown and Lake City Trail.  Groomer 1 is in the shop for repair.  Groomer 2 will be running two shifts until the other tractor is repaired.  That means day and night grooming.  Everyone needs to be extra cautious on the trail as it is harder to see the groomers in the day.  Trails are in excellent condition.  There are a couple of corners that have high banks, but other than that, smooooth sailing through out the entire Miss-Kal Trail.  Ride Safe.  - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 9, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Both groomers ran last night and the trails are EXCELLENT!  There is a lot of snow on the trail and more is coming!  The weekend will be even better with the 3" - 7" of forecasted snow.  Groomers are running again tonight so please watch for them on the trail.  Ride Safe.  Ron Loveland Jr.

February 6, 2008 - Snow Update

It has been snowing since last night as forecasted.  3" - 6" of fresh snow has fallen already.  Another 3" - 6" will fall at minimum.  Groomers are running tonight.  Please be extra careful as the heavy snow fall may reduce visibility.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail!  -  Ron Loveland Jr.

February 6, 2008 - Trail Update

We rode the Miss-Kal trail from Rhoby Road to Fife Lake last night.  The trails were excellent.  Light traffic and freezing conditions have made the trail perfect.  On the way home we hit the start of the snow storm.  We are in the 4" - 8" forecast, so the trails will be excellent through out the weekend.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 5, 2008 - Trail Update

Well it snowed then rained on Monday afternoon.  The trails now consist of a frozen, wet snow, hard pack.  If trail use is light until the next grooming, the snow we have should make a great base.  A big snow storm is forecasted for Wednesday, so think snow!  Groomers are scheduled for Wednesday evening, so please watch out for them on the trail.  Ride Safe.  - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 4, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

I just came in from grooming and the trails are EXCELLENT!!!!!  There was plenty of snow to fill in the corners and all of the spots I checked were packed nicely.  There was no snowmobile traffic this evening, Thank You Super Bowl!!!  The trail will have all night to freeze and will be in excellent shape for Monday's Riders.  Think Safety and See You on The Trail.  - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 3, 2008 - Trail Update

The trails are a little bumpy this afternoon.  The groomers are going out tonight to smooth things out.  Please watch out for them on the trail.  Currently we need more snow, so keep dancing.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 2, 2008 - Trail Update

We rode East today, over 100 miles in all.  The Miss-Kal Trail was in very good condition, but we still need more snow.  Several corners are down to the ice base, making the corners a little hard to maneuver.  Please be careful, especially on the tight corners.  See You on The Trail. - Ron Loveland Jr.

February 1, 2008 - Grooming / Trail Update

Both groomers will be out this evening so please watch out for them.  Trail conditions are excellent, and should be even better after grooming.  We received a good 4" of snow in the area, so there is plenty to go around.  Ride Safe and See You on The Trail.  - Ron Loveland Jr,
